Combining WebParts and Master Pages - ' Adding WebPartZone Controls '

Adding WebPartZone Controls

The WebPartZone control creates a location with content that the user can customize. You can use as many zones as needed to accomplish a given Web page task.

The user initially sees the zones with precisely the content that you thought they'd need and in the location that you felt they'd need it.

Unlike other controls, a WebPartZone control can appear anywhere within the master or content pages. Of course, the design of the master page limits content page locations because you still need to place a WebPartZone control in a ContentPlaceHolder control.

Figure 3 shows how you can combine content from the master page and the content page into a cohesive unit.
