Jargon: What the Marketer said to the Programmer - Good-for-the-Resume Words
( Page 6 of 6 )

Good-for-the-Resume Words

While a lot of the words I’m covering are really not much more than just marketing jargon that people like to throw into advertising campaigns, here I present you with some technologies for us programmers that are important and you’ll probably want to learn. Yes, you’ll probably want Grid Computing on your resume. But here are technologies you’re likely to see more in job ads than regular ads. I won’t really give you definitions here; these really are technical terms that have actual meanings, and you can search the Web for them, and even find some excellent articles about them here in the fine pages of DevSource.

AJAX; XML and its little helpers (XSLT, and so on); Agile development; J2EE and other biggies; Web Development and its different approaches, including ASP.NET; Java Servlets, and so on.

Got more?

If you have more you’d like to see, email me and if I receive enough, I’ll do a follow-up article with even more terms you didn’t know! Hit me up at Jeffrey.cogswell@ZiffDavisEnterprise.com, or just add a comment to this article.
