The .Net-based adapters enable BizTalk Server to communicate with third-party ERP and integration applications.
iWay Software is helping Microsoft Corp. users better interoperate with third-party applications.
The New York-based company, which has a stable of about 280 prebuilt adapters to back-end systems, announced Tuesday it's selling the source code and intellectual property from eight of its adapters to Microsoft.
The handful of .Net-based adapters Microsoft is acquiring essentially enable the company's BizTalk Server to communicate with applications from a variety of ERP (enterprise resource planning) and integration vendors, including PeopleSoft and J.D. Edwards ERP applications (both companies are now owned by Oracle Corp.); Oracle applications and databases; Siebel Systems Inc.'s applications; and Tibco Software Inc.'s EMS, Rendezvous and Clarify integration applications.

iWay, founded by Information Builders Inc. in 2001, will continue to develop adapters for BizTalk, officials said.
"Microsoft will now be able to provide a complete solution that involves popular applications and middleware integration without relying on third parties for sales, support, or implementation," said John Senor, president of iWay, in a statement. "They are still relying on iWay for additional, less complicated adapters. We expect to expand our adapter offerings for .Net in the future."
