Genuitec LLC, a founding member of the Eclipse Foundation, announced availability of release 4.0 of the MyEclipse Enterprise Workbench, a platform and tool suite for developing software applications and systems for J2EE and other environments. Among MyEclipse 4.0's new features are the MyUML modeling suite, MyJSF (Java Server Faces) Developer for Java, Specialized Oracle Database Connector Hibernate 3.0, Jakarta Tapestry, and Spring IDE support.
ComponentOne's Doc-To-Help 2005 adds several new features to the Help authoring tool. According to the company, the new version has HTML Source Support, allowing you to use any HTML editor and/or Microsoft Word to produce Help systems and printed manuals; D2HML (Doc-To-Help Markup Language) and FrontPage Integration; NetHelp, to assist in publishing documentation on the Web; and RoboHelp/HTML Help project conversion.

Virtools' Virtools Software Suite 3.5, a set of software development solutions for building highly interactive 3D content, is expected to begin shipping next month. According to the company, enhancements include a new video engine (to enable a "live" video feed from a video camera, for instance); native VRML Import; 5.1 sound effects, thanks to the integration of the latest DirectSound3D engine; a ready-to-use Shaders Library to apply effects to objects with no programming necessary; and support OpenGL 1.5. As of Virtools Dev 3.5, Visual Studio.net 2003 will be the sole SDK development program supported.
DataArt announced a NETChart component for ASP.NET, a charting solution for Microsoft Visual Studio .NET, which the company claims permits full control of the chart's graphic representation, customization of chart items, automatic and manual data-binding (from a database or XML documents) and an easy-to-implement drill-down mode of a chart, among other features.
Rogue Wave Software released its SourcePro C++ Edition 8. According to the firm, the new edition of the SourcePro C++ Suite includes support for the latest operating systems, including Linux, Windows, and UNIX, and additional databases and compilers, such as the Intel C++ Compiler 8.1. The C++ components are claimed to work seamlessly across any supported platform, enabling companies to quickly build agile C++ applications that can be readily migrated from one platform to another as business and technology needs change. Using the SourcePro API, developers can write platform-, compiler-, and database-independent code.
