Black Duck releases Version 4 of its ProtexIP software code analysis and license tracking system with support for AJAX and streamlined workflow.
Black Duck Software announced a new version of its ProtexIP development system Sept. 25 at the Gartner Open Source Summit in Phoenix.
Version 4.0 of the software compliance management system features a new graphical user interface based on AJAX (Asynchronous JavaScript and XML), a streamlined visual workflow, an obligation checklist that speeds the software compliance management process, "Precision" code matching technology that increases user productivity, and a software development kit, company officials said.

It also draws on feedback from developers, attorneys and managers in Black Duck's expanding customer base as well as on input from the company's Customer Advisory Council, Black Duck officials said.
Moreover, the AJAX-based UI provides improved responsiveness and interactivity, and Black Duck has streamlined the product's workflow capabilities with features suited to project management, code identification, component review and approval, and reporting, the company said.
The user interface's executive dashboard, code navigator and obligation fulfillment checklist enable users to minimize the resources required to review code and its licensing obligations by a factor of 10, officials said.
Black Duck's "Precision" technology helps enhance the performance of code reviews by suppressing unlikely code matches and displaying code matches that identify code on the ever-expanding ProtexIP KnowledgeBase, the company said. The product also features dependability analysis and archive analysis capabilities, as well as a software development kit to integrate ProtexIP with other software development environments and add Black Duck's technology to existing development systems.
